Waianapanapa Black Sand Beach Reservations 

Wai’ānapanapa which means glistening waters, with Pa‘iola, is famous for its black sand beach, stunning coastal views, and rugged lava shoreline that features sea arches, blow holes, and the black sand beach of Pailoa Bay. To protect these special resources from overuse, the state has a daily visitor limit for visiting the state park.

Advance reservations are now required for all vehicles, walk-in entry, and PUC vehicles visiting Waiʻānapanapa State Park. Plan your trip accordingly. Reservations may be made up to 30 days in advance, and no later than the day before your visit.

Planning on Visiting Waianapanapa Black Sand Beach State Park 

Waiʻānapanapa State Park fees on State Website are as listed below: Out-of-State visitors

  • Parking: $10.00 (per time slot) + $5.00 per person entry fee

  • Reservations need to be made for any drive-in, walk-in, bike-in or drop-off entries.

  • Visitors making parking reservations will be required to select a time slot.

Daily Time Slots Available to Book on State Website*

7:00am - 10:00am

10:00am - 12:30pm

12:30pm - 3:00pm

3:00pm - 6:00pm

*Advanced Reservations are Highly Recommended as Time Slots Do Sell Out in Advance.
